There is a path that assumes we can direct and create our lives, because we have agency and can consciously adapt through the choices that we make. The more consciousness we cultivate, especially of the unconscious forces that can direct us, the greater the apparent valency of our choices.

Often this is measured in desired outcomes.

The way of NOT striving, of being in the unfolding mystery of becoming, is perhaps the greater truth, because when life chooses to create us, no amount of striving after control will help. In fact it often has the opposite effect. To force us in to crisis after crisis.

From what I know and from what I have seen, to transcend such positions simply requires an acceptance of the truth of a situation. This is the only path I have seen that leads to liberation. the thing is, crossing that threshold is painful because so often we must leave behind a part of ourselves that we held dear – this can be an assumption of who we thought we were – or who we thought we should be.

With each such threshold people cross they get closer to knowing themselves.

But for all this knowing – all that we can ever know of ourselves for sure, is the moment of knowing itself – the moment of being conscious of being.

Knowing and being. Being and knowing.

To be in the unfolding mystery of becoming is this.

Discerning between the times that you get to choose and the times you don’t seems to be one of the greatest challenges.

Sometimes we stay on paths for too long, when we know that they were wrong to follow – but we followed them through ease, or fear, or doubt, or a desire for safety.

Then there are paths that we have to follow, just to be sure, just to be absolutely sure…

Wherever you are at on your journey today, I wish you safe passage and good companions. May you find the courage, resilience, resources, and compassion, to cross any threshold that needs crossing.
