The actual act of living is way to complex to reduce it to simple formulas and words. And yet, here we are.

Relating, adapting, and creating.

How we relate to the world, to ourselves, and to those we share the world with is fundamental to what events and experiences shape our lives.

It is a very useful frame to have when looking at how one might go about changing things for the better. You could do a lot worse than to start with the following three questions:

  1. In what ways is how I am relating to this event or experience inhibiting my ability to adapt to the changes that are happening, or that need to be made.
  2. What skills or knowledge do I need in order to be able to adapt better in this circumstance or experience?
  3. What do I have the ability and/or resources that would help me change myself or my environment that would improve my ability to relate or adapt better.

The following video was initially inspired by a message that I received from a friend after having reviewed some information I had sent them relating to the terrain theory of illness – the idea that germs take in diseased terrain, and that cancer is the product of diseased terrain in the body. That it is caused, in larger part, by the physical reactions to an unstable environment.

They mentioned that it was a shame that so much information around the medical profession is presented as definitive, when the facts in their experienced showed that not all doctors think the same way about illness and that so much of the nuance of what life actually is can be lost to the realms of black and white thinking.

While it is fair to say that there are some facts that are indisputable, and some principles non negotiable, there is certainly more room than is offered in many conventional institutions for explorations to take place. That there are subtleties in many arguments, and perspectives that are often left unconsidered and unexplored.

While there is a case to be made that there is a time to act, there is a balance to be had between moving and waiting for all of the facts to come in.

If we are the universe perceiving itself, what is the nature of the relationship that we have to our bodies and to what we choose to consume? If we are the universe perceiving itself then we are the very hing that we are consuming.

This video touches on a couple of perspectives that explore some of these lines of thinking and the choices available to us, and invites the viewer to question some of their own relationships, not least to information itself.
