It’s highly likely you have heard it all before, people touting systems and formulas as cure all’s to life’s ills and misfortune. Laws of attraction and resonance and reciprocation. How to collapse the quantum wave function and manifest your hearts desires. Candle magic for love. Chaos sigil magic for sex. Inner alchemy breath work to reconfigure your essence. Inner Child work to heal your past. Spiritual Endurance to strengthen you in the moment. Mindfulness to stay in the moment. Online marketing to cultivate passive income steams to bolster your path to financial independence. Pyramid schemes, affiliate marketing, drop shipping.

I could go on, but I trust the point is made.

The New Age

It’s not that these strategies are not without grains of truth or at least some degree of functional application, but taken in isolation, as single systems, as single formulas to follow – as cure alls – they all too often lead people to pain, suffering and failure.

Yes, they also produce successes.

Such successes are often held up by more vocal exponents of such systems of proof that they work. The systems get promoted on such successes, and those who fail to achieve a similar degree of success are promoted as more than likely not doing it right. Maybe they are told that they are not aligning their energy correctly, or they are failing to set a clear enough intent, or their auras have too many holes in.

Systems

While such systems can offer proof that success in life can be attained as a result of practicing them, they are not proof that they are valid pathways for everyone.

Those of you who have read through some of my posts, watched some videos, or looked at the services I offer might wonder I what I am professing to offer is any different. Let’s face it, you are reading a post that is titled “Finding Your Authentic Centre and Living a Balanced Life.”

So I offering anything different?

Psychotherapy

I want to make a distinction first. What I share here in blog posts and on the YouTube channel is not commensurate with what I offer in my brand of psychotherapy. They are very different things. Sometimes, the places that people feel stuck, lost, or broken, need a certain quality of presence and witnessing. It’s not all about attention, there are practical physiological and psychological assessments that will help to better understand what is going on for a patient, but it is, at the end of the day, something that happens in the 1 to 1 process of unfolding those parts of yourself in therapy for which there is no reals substitute. Now don’t beg time wrong, people have been healing each other for millennia in one way or another. Opening the truth of your soul to a wise elder before the flames of a fire, someone whose quality of character you know and whose counsel you have seen positively effect the lives of others, this can be healing.

Whatever invitation I make here is no substitute for that quality of focus of attention and engagement. With that said, let us continue.

My Invitation

What I offer is NOT a single system, nor is it a single formula, not as such, although it is appropriate to say that it does contain ingredients; Principles that appears to be perennial, principles that can open you up to a guiding wisdom that is your own.

Any system that in conclusion does not return the root of sovereignty and agency back to you as an informed and conscious individual to hold should be treated with great suspicion.

This is in large part where what I offers differs from the sorts of systems, tools and techniques, mentioned in the opening paragraph. Whatever tools I offer, whatever invitations I make, I want you to ultimately travel your own path in your own way.

If I offer anything it is the knowledge, the belief, and the support to help you reach that place.

Being a Leader

There are many facets to consider in how one connects, or reconnects with their path, and there are multiple ways and means to do so, but at the foundation of all of them is relating. This is because relating better leads to better adaptation, both in principle and in actuality.

The questions of who, what, where, when, how and why we relate, and who, what, where, when, how and why we relate in the ways we do are key.

Developing an understanding of difference between the spirit of life that flows from within us and how well we are disposed to discovering and activating this in the world is the primary challenge. Are you prepared to lead yourself, rather than submit to the needs, wants, and desires of society, family, and/or what your communities expect of you – or, maybe more to the point, what you believe that society, family, and community expects of us.

The Wisdom of Others

It is not that these expectations of us are unfounded or even unfair – yes, sometimes people will want us to do what they tell us we need to do. They won’t always have our best interests at heart. There will be times that they will to. They will try to guide and shape our lives because they believe they know what is best for us. Can they? Do they? Or is it really your responsibility?

There are cases to be made for having guiding principles that help us share space and time in (what should be) fair and equitable ways. It is just that there can be times when these guidelines are presented as intractable or immutable laws, or that others exploit the rules for their own gain. Deciphering, delineating and discerning the values of such laws and rules is part of the game, but it is far from all of the game.

Conclusion

For us to live the life we were born to live, to be the best version of ourselves – or, more accurately, to become one of the better versions of ourselves – we do well to disentangle our needs from the rules of others imposed upon us in order to better comprehend what is our path.

The following video deals with something of this topic.
